Starting this week, PPS high school students 16 and older, and PPS families, will have the opportunity to sign up for a COVID vaccine appointment through a simplified process. 

Appointments will be at the Oregon Convention Center on Wednesdays.  To make sure students and families can access this opportunity, PPS will be running bus shuttles from 3 locations: Roosevelt, Jefferson, and Roseway Heights. 

PPS is still finalizing the sign-up process and translating communications into all supported languages, but I wanted to make sure you had this information now, so you can share it with students on Tuesday. 

If you teach students 16 or older, or know of PPS families who would benefit from support accessing the COVID vaccine, please tell your students about this opportunity, and let them know that a link to sign up will be emailed to the families of high school students, and sent through Remind.

Dear High School Students and Families,

Students 16 and older at Portland school districts, including PPS, are being offered a new opportunity for free-of-charge COVID-19 vaccinations, starting this week at the Oregon Convention Center. If your 16+ student has not yet been vaccinated, we hope you will take advantage of this opportunity. 

Students will receive the Pfizer vaccine; it is a two-shot series, with the doses given approximately three weeks apart. Dates for this opportunity will be included in a web sign-up form shared with families on Tuesday.

PLEASE NOTE: This opportunity is also available to family members of high school students. Simply fill out the forthcoming form for each family member to schedule their vaccination appointment.

If you will need a ride to and from the Oregon Convention Center, PPS will be offering bus shuttle service and there will be a way to indicate that on the web form. 

The form contains additional information and details, so please be on the lookout for that email message tomorrow. 

We know that the vaccination process can seem overwhelming and confusing, so we hope this process we are now offering is simple and straightforward for you and your high school student. We are here to help, and we hope you will take advantage of this opportunity.
