What is your holiday wish for your students? Art classes? Music? Wrap around mental health services? The Better Oregon campaign is where it begins.
Teachers across the state are working hard to get Initiative Petition 28 on the 2016 ballot. And if we succeed at qualifying and then passing this ballot measure, it will put up to 33% more money into public education.
As of December 9th, PAT members collected over 2,000 signatures, but we’re only 20 percent towards our goal of 10,000! Too many schools haven’t returned any signed petitions, and they don’t count if they aren’t returned! Please remember to get your three signatures, and deliver any outstanding petition sheets you have, to the PAT office before the end of the year. We can’t do it without you!
As of December 9th the following schools had the highest signature totals*:
Alliance |
161 |
Rieke |

Rigler |

Sellwood |

Grant |
90 |
Peninsula |
80 |
Cesar Chavez |
75 |
Bridger |
69 |
Woodlawn |

And a special shout out goes to Peninsula and Maplewood, where 75 percent of the members have signed the petition!
Big thanks also to Greg Burrill, Tom Kane, Eric Swehla, Rick Oleksak, Shannon Foxley, Diana Collins, and Terri Harrington, who have each collected over 50 signatures.
* Note, there is a 2 week delay in processing the signature sheets to verify that the signer is a registered voter.
