PAT Advocacy Cadre

PAT Advocacy Cadre Hotline

We are excited to launch the 2nd year of our PAT Advocacy Cadre. The Advocacy Cadre is a group of member-educators who will work closely with the UniServ Consultants to become experts on our contracts, and to support members who need help navigating the specific language contained in our union contracts.

Prior to contacting the Cadre Hotline, members should first attempt to speak with their building representative.

PAT Advocacy Cadre Hotline Hours: Mondays, 5:00-6:30 PM

Zoom Drop-In (link will be added once the Cadre is back up and running)

Email: [email protected]

You can send an e-mail to the cadre at any time, but they will only be responding during Monday hotline hours. If you have an issue that requires more immediate attention please first contact your building representative or your UniServ Consultant.

This program is designed to expand our contract advocacy and provide the tools and education members need to feel empowered to enforce their contractual rights in their buildings.

Meet the 2021-22 PAT Advocacy Cadre:

Paula DePass-Dennis

My name is Paula. I have worked in educational settings for over 30 years. I started as an educational assistant and a PPS school bus driver as I put myself through school. As a teacher, my career started as a middle school math teacher then moved to 4th grade where I taught for 15 years. Student Management Specialist, Equity TOSA, and back in the classroom for the last 5 years after the Equity Department was dissolved. I served as a building rep for several years, and sat on the Executive Board for PAT. I bring my knowledge of school systems and PAT leadership to this Advocate Cadre.

He has previously worked as a Special Education Paraprofessional, SES Coordinator and was an organizer and participant in the 2019 UTLA strike while teaching in South Los Angeles.

Lisa Kong

My name is Lisa and I have worked in education for almost 10 years. From working for SUN School at Harrison Park, to being a Camp Fire Instructor at George Middle school, and  to now beginning my 5th year as a teacher at Cesar Chavez School. As much as I love being an educator, I know the many challenges and barriers within our profession and I'm excited to jump into this new role as Cadre to help support my fellow colleagues. My family came to America as refugees from Cambodia and I feel that this has naturally made me be a lifelong advocate!

Tiffany Koyama Lane

Tiffany Koyama Lane (she/her) is a proud educator, community organizer, Japanese American (Yonsei), and activist in progress. After graduating from the University of Oregon, she moved to NYC where she got her start teaching in programs that utilized the vibrant city as an active-learning classroom space, specifically Harlem and Brooklyn. Since moving back to Portland, she has taught the full range of elementary grade levels, from K-5, in a variety of educational settings. She currently is a third grade teacher at Sunnyside Environmental School. Tiffany looks forward to supporting the hardworking, dedicated, inspiring teachers that make up the Portland Association of Teachers.
