Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month: The Celebration Continues!

Latinx Heritage Month officially ends on October 15, but we hope the celebration of Latinx culture in your classroom will continue all year.  Find out more on our website. Below are some recent updates:

Latinx Affinity Group for PAT Members

Latinx educators are invited to a weekly Latinx Affinity Group, every Friday at 4pm now through December 18th. Hosted by Leticia Alvarez, Cesar Chavez K-8. The purpose of this affinity group is to provide a safe space for Latinx educators to receive support and encouragement from their Latinx colleagues.  Register in advance to get the link to join. 

Teaching for Equity National Conference: October 17

This year, the National Network of State Teachers of the Year (NNSTOY) will be hosting a national professional development conference on October 17th. Teach for Equity: Reaching all Students in Turbulent Times will help you reflect upon and sharpen your culturally responsive teaching with timely sessions from Geneviève DeBose, Alex Kajitani, Monica Washington, Michelle Cottrell-Williams & Leigh Ann Erickson, Lorrie Heagy & Rose Willard, Qorsho Hassan, and Abdul Wright.

The first 4,000 NEA members who register for the convening will be able to use the promotional code “NEAEquity” during registration to have the $50.00 event fee waived – so if you’re interested in attending Teach for Equity: Reaching all Students in Turbulent Times act fast!

OEA Promising Practices Grants

Every year, OEA gives Promising Practices Grants to educators to support student learning and professional development for OEA members across Oregon. This year, there is $2,000 available for grants to PAT members.

Grants can be used to fund projects or materials that support improved student achievement. The application is fully online this year and available here
